About the Journal

Grecorromana. Revista Chilena de Estudios Clásicos is a journal edited by Universidad Andrés Bello (Chile). Its mission is to advance the study of the Greco-Roman world in Latin America, as well as its developments in Late Antiquity and its reception in subsequent periods (Classical Reception).

The journal’s identity is defined by its commitment to highlighting Classical scholarship produced in the region and integrating it into broader international debates. To this end, it provides an academic platform for the publication of original and significant research, whether through innovative theoretical or methodological approaches, or through the presentation of new translations and commentaries on Classical sources, particularly in Spanish.

Accordingly, Grecorromana offers a space for critical and reflective engagement with Classical Antiquity, fostering dialogue among the various disciplines that constitute Classical Studies (history, philosophy, philology, archaeology, art history, mythology, among others), and bringing together both Latin American and international scholarship.

Except in the case of source publications or new translations, submissions to Grecorromana must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal or publication outlet.

All manuscripts are subject to a double-blind peer review process (that is, the anonymity of both authors and reviewers will be maintained), during which reviewers may request revisions from the author. In cases of conflicting evaluations, a third review may be solicited to reach a final decision. The evaluation process follows the journal’s “Evaluation Guidelines”, which assess both formal aspects (title, abstract, keywords, length, writing, and formatting) and substantive criteria (relevance, originality and contribution, research problem and hypothesis, use of primary sources, bibliography, and theoretical and methodological framework).

Book Reviews are evaluated by members of the Editorial or Scientific. Board; when necessary, external review may be requested.

The journal is published annually. As of 2025, it has adopted a continuous publication model.

Grecorromana publishes research articles, translations, documentary sources, and book reviews. It also includes a Dossier section, which must be proposed by a coordinator and include a minimum of three research articles.

Grecorromana is an open-access journal, meaning that all content is made freely available without charge to users or their institutions. Users are authorized to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, and to use them for any other lawful purpose, without the need to obtain prior permission from either the Publisher or the author.

The journal does not charge any fees at any stage of the publication process, including submission, review, evaluation, or publication. Neither authors nor readers incur any costs.

All content published in the journal is freely available without embargo periods or subscription requirements.

Grecorromana assigns a Crossref-registered institutional DOI to each published document, ensuring its long-term digital preservation and persistent accessibility. Furthermore, all published content is archived and preserved through the digital repository of the Andrés Bello University Library System.
