La muerte de los niños en el Occidente del Imperio Romano. Siglos I-III d.C. Aprontes para una discusión

Para discutir con mayor precisión el concepto de muerte la muerte y qué podrían haber considerado los propios romanos acerca de la defunción de los niños, se hace necesario poder analizar distintas posturas, tanto de autores contemporáneos como de fuentes clásicas, así como evidencias epigráficas correspondientes. Por ello, es que en el presente trabajo se aborda sobre la muerte de niños en el occidente romano entre los siglos I y III d.C., y cómo se han venido tratando el entendimiento de algunos tópicos y los problemas que se suscitan. Para ello, analizaremos algunas teorías acerca de la mortalidad infantil para luego continuar con la interpretación en torno a concepciones ligadas a la muerte y su vínculo con epitafios infantiles.
